About The Friends of Cycling in Elk Grove

The Friends of Cycling in Elk Grove (FCEG) is a group of dedicated cycling advocates and enthusiasts from Elk Grove Village and the surrounding area that simply want people to ride bikes more often – to school, to work, for errands, for exercise, and for enjoyment!
Our first meeting took place in October 2011.
FCEG was officially recognized by Mayor Craig Johnson in March 2012 as Elk Grove Village's
"duly recognized cycling organization".
We meet regularly to discuss the state of cycling in Elk Grove, identify areas of improvement, and determine ways to share the many benefits of cycling with others.
The Friends of Cycling in Elk Grove is a 501(c)(3) public charity recognized by the IRS.

Busse Woods Habitat Restoration Workday – 11/15/14
Volunteers from the FCEG and the Friends of Busse Woods removed invasive buckthorn trees and eliminated a blind spot along the trail at Busse Woods. All trail users are a little safer now as a result of our effort. Be sure to check out the spot just south of the main dam next time you're at Busse!
Busse Woods Bike Pit Stop – 9/28/13
FCEG enjoys hosting bike pit stops along the Busse Woods trail. Volunteers check helmets for proper fit, inflate tire tires, lube chains, pass out stickers, serve refreshments, and discuss bike safety with too many people to count. The Cook County Forest Preserve Police joined us and bring FREE bike helmets to pass out!
