6:10pm – 6:30pm: Waivers and bike checks
6:30pm – 6:40pm: RoS proclamation and safety discussion
6:40pm – 8:00pm: Ride of Silence (10 miles)
8:00pm – 8:30pm: Clean up

Ride of Silence Goals

• To honor those who have been injured or killed while cycling
• To raise awareness that cyclists are on the road too
• To ask that we all share the road

Details

  • There is no fee to participate in this event.
  • Helmets are strongly encouraged for all participants.
  • We will ride in silent procession at approximately 10mph
  • We'll be following the Rules of the Road (stopping at stop lights and at stop signs when cross traffic is present).
  • The RoS is recommended for ages 10 and up as we need to keep the group together for maximum visibility.
  • We'll be riding no more than 2-up to allow motorists space to safely pass the group.
  • Lights will add to the effect, so if you have bike lights, plan on using them during the ride.

Route

The route for the EGV Ride of Silence is below. Note that we'll be entering Busse Woods at Arlington Heights Rd, not across from Edgeware, as the map shows.
